Problems of drug abuse and alcoholism discussed

As part of its regular programme, Nehru Yuva Kendra, Imphal West organized a day-long deliberation on the menacing problem of drug abuse and alcoholism at Lamsang Nagar Panchayat Ward no 2 today.
The programme was attended by W Brajabidhu Singh, MLA Lamsang as Chief Guest; L Tilotama, Vice-Chairperson of NYKS, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt of India as Presiden while Kasimlu Kamei, Councilor of Ward no 2 Lamsang Nagar Panchayat and Sahib Singh, Zonal Director of NYKS Imphal as Guests of Honour.
Giving key note address, Y Laksman, District Youth Co-ordinator highlighted about the menacing problem of drug abuse and alcoholism in Manipur and the role to be played by the Youth Clubs and Mahila Mandals in taking ownership of preventing the drug problem under the leadership of Panchayati Raj institutions and Nagar Panchayats.
W Brajabidhu reiterated that NYK has been taking the role of social reformation and community service and added that the NYK Imphal, the Rural Development Organization in Lamsang came up immediately after the work camp programme of NYK held in 1974-75 .
L Tilotama stressed on the need to bring a change in the society by involving youths at various level through NYK.
