Destitute woman's house inaugurated

Imphal, June 30 2021:
A newly constructed house of Irengbam Sangita of Uripok Khoisnam Leikai, a homeless woman who has been facing immense hardships due to poor health condition of herself and her husband, was inaugurated by Khumbongmayum Suresh, who is preparing to contest the upcoming State Assembly election as a candidate from Uripok assembly constituency, on Wednesday.
The house has been constructed with financial assistance from different individuals and organisations after chief minister N Biren pooled in Rs 1 lakh.
Speaking to the media, Sangita informed that she has been suffering from an ailment for the last 15 years and used to earn her livelihood by tailoring mosquito nets before her ailment compounded her financial position.
Chief minister N Biren provided Rs 1 lakh for construction of her house and she also possessed CMHT card.
On the other hand, Shija Hospitals managing director Dr Palin offered free treatment of her ailment.
With the support from the CM, local clubs and Meira Paibi organisation as well as several individuals, she now has her own home, Sangita said.
Not only Sangita but her husband and eldest daughter also are also suffering from a major health condition which had affected her family to a great extent.
Her condition came to public knowledge following a post on social media by some individuals.
Nirvana Foundation had also assured of sponsoring the study of her children till class 12.Meanwhile, assuring his support to people in distress in Uripok assembly constituency, Suresh appealed to all to inform him if there is any such individual in their locality so that he could provide some help.
Local club's executive member Yambem Naoba and Uripok Khoisnam Leikai Women's Welfare representative Khomdram Shanta were also present on the occasion.
