Two Sangai fawns born at Langol home

Two Sangais have given birth to two fawns at the Langol Sangai second home.
Two other Sangai fawns are also expected in February, informed Manipur Zoological Garden Director Arun RS .
He further informed that one vulture would be brought to the zoo from Churachandpur tomorrow.
He said that captive breeding of Sangai has been going on successfully at the second home.
Last year, five Sangai fawns were born at the second home.
There are now 17 Sangais at the home.
A vulture which was captured from the jungle by villagers of Senvon village under Tipaimukh sub-division of Churachandpur district would be brought to the zoo tomorrow.
The vulture is currently with Churachandpur DFO after it was brought there from Senvon village with the knowledge of Churachandpur DC .

Meanwhile, groups of Night Heron (Urok) as well a Open Billed Stork (Tharoi Chabi) have started visiting Manipur Zoological Garden.
Regarding the captive breeding programme of State bird Nongin at Langol Sangai second home where two female Nongins have been killed by a male, due consultation has been initiated with experts on safe and successful breeding of Nongin.
Nonetheless, captive breeding programme of Kalij Pheasant, locally known as Waba has been going on successfully both inside the zoo and Langol Sangai second home.
There are now nine numbers of Waba at the zoo, said the Director.
