Imphal, November 04 2015: Former MLA and BJP candidate in Thongju A/C Th Bishwajit today filed his nomination papers for the by-election to be held on November 21 .

BJP Manipur Pradesh president Th Chaoba, general secretary (administration) M Ashnikumar, general secretary (media affairs) L Basanta Sharma and former Minister M Hemanta accompanied him in filing his nomination at the office of SDO/RO, Porompat.

Imphal East DC M Joy supervised the affairs at the RO's office.

Speaking to reporters, Th Bishwajit said that money and muscle powers of Congress would be able to do nothing in Thongju AC this time.

He added that the notion of buying votes with money would go in vain in his AC.

Th Bishwajit claimed that he spent all his Local Area Development Funds in the welfare activities of the people of his AC properly during his tenure of three years as an MLA.

However, his predecessor Congress MLA misused LAD funds for ten years, he alleged.

Saying that he is contesting the election to teach a befitting lesson to 'arrogant' Congress, Th Bishwajit expressed confidence of coming out victorious saying that people have full faith in BJP.

Meanwhile, former Director of State Planning Department and NCP candidate in the 10th Assembly election in Thongju AC, Kangujam Mangi has joined BJP and pledged support to Th Bishwajit.

In a simple ceremony held at State party office at Nityaipat Chuthek today, BJP State president Th Chaoba formally announced Mangi's entry to the saffron party.

Chaoba said that Bishwajit would defeat Congress candidate with a greater margin this time.

He said that Thongju is normally known as a stronghold for MPP and people of the AC usually oppose Congress.

As such, with MPP backing BJP this time, Bishwajit has a good chance of winning the seat, he said.

Moreover, LJP has assured to support BJP in the by-election, he said.

Of the five candidates who contested in the last Assembly election in the AC, four were anti Congress, Chaoba said.

Saying that BJP's objective is to annihilate corruption-ridden Congress, Chaoba alleged that Congress has not done anything tangible during their 13 years' rule in the State.

In Thangmeiband AC as well, BJP candidate Kh Joykishan would defeat his Congress rival, Chaoba said.

K Mangi while speaking at the occasion said that he has joined BJP to support Prime Minister Narendra Modi's development programmes.Saying that people of Manipur also need to be part of the change being witnessed in the country, Mangi said that he would fully support Th Bishwajit in the upcoming by-election.

When he was the Director of Planning, the Planning Commission of India provided enough fund to the State Government, Mangi said.

However, the State has seen no change on the development front in the past one decade due to corruption, he said.

Th Bishwajit, former Speaker Dr Sapam Dhananjoy, BJP's Vision 2020 Document Chairperson Dr RK Ranjan and general secretaries M Ashnikumar and L Basanta Sharma were also present at the occasion.
