Senapati rallies for Alternative Arrangement

In pursuit of its demand for an alternative arrangement till an honourable solution to the Naga political issue is worked out, Naga people in large number took out a rally at Senapati district headquarters today.
The public rally was jointly organised by Naga organisations such as UNC, ANSAM, SDSA and NPO and covered senapati bazar, District hospital Road and DC Road before converging at Senapati Public Ground, where a public meeting was also held.
Slogans demanding expeditious measures from the Central Government for an alternative arrangement pending solution to the Indo-Naga dialogue, labelling 'communal Government' tag to the Government of Manipur, and the assertion that the Nagas will sustain movement for an honourable solution to the Naga political issue were raised by the rally participants which included Church leaders, students and the general public.
During the rally, shop-keepers downed shutters in Senapati Bazar areas and vehicles stayed off the Senapati section of National Highway 2 .

Addressing the public gathering, leaders of various Naga organisations renewed pledge for concerted movement till the common goal of the Naga people is attained.
Asserting that only the Nagas will decide future of the Naga people, they also emphasised on unified movement to defy all disruptive elements and affirmed that stand of the UNC and other Naga organisations will be supported under all circumstances.
They also contended that decision to demand for an alternative arrangement had been necessitated due to anti-naga stand of the 'communal Government of Manipur' .
a public declaration was also adopted at the occasion, wherein the Government of India has been urged to exercise its political will in bringing an honourable and acceptable settlement to the Indo-Naga issue at the earliest, notwithstanding any attempt to sabotage the peace process.
Besides UNC, ANSAM, SDSA and NPO, representatives of the Naga Women's Union, SFAA, Maram union, Mao Council, Poumai naga union, Thangal union, Tangkhul Naga Long and Senapati District Women's Association also attended the public rally as well as addressed the meeting.
