IMC explains factors for garbage

Imphal, July 31 2011: Reacting to the news report on the piling garbage in the commercial areas of Imphal, the Imphal Municipal Council has categorically stated that the piling mound of dirt Khwairamband bazar area is despicable.

In a statement issued to the press today evening, IMC said that it takes the moral responsibility of putting the matter before the higher authority but at the same time underlined the need for the public to develop civic sense and help keep the city clean.

Towards this end, IMC organised a drive on July 18 wiith the theme, Clean City, Healthy City, said the statement and added that elected councillors and officials of IMC participated in the drive held at Khwairamband bazar and the adjoining areas.

Though it is the responsibility of the Government to allot the dumping sites, it is the job of the IMC to maintain it, said the statement.

There is the need for the Government to allot a new dumping site, added the Council.
