Ukhrul to hold district-wide fasting for Naga Peace Accord on Nov 20

Ukhrul, November 14 2015 : Following the recent signing of the historic peace accord between the Government of Nagaland and NSCN (IM), the Naga public have been celebrating the development while also speculating as to what ultimately would the framework agreement hold vis-�-vis the collective Naga aspirations.

In view of the prevailing scenario, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) has called all the Churches across the township and villages in the district to organize a spiritual fasting program on November 20 to invoke the grace of God towards positive outcomes of the said peace accord which still remains a structural framework.

"It will be a district-wide spiritual programme as we have asked all the local Church authorities in Ukhrul town as well as in villages in the entire district to organize a solemn fasting prayer service on November 20," TNL vice president P Peimi told Hueiyen Lanpao on Saturday.

"This will be a special prayer program to invoke God';s blessings upon the peace accord so that the Almighty intervenes and fulfills collective Nagas'; aspirations through this current framework agreement," he said.

"We have also appealed to the public to cooperate and partake in the service and asked all to forgo their normal duties including agricultural activities on the fasting day," Peimi further informed.
