Imphal, April 08 2024:
Congress party has filed a complaint to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Manipur on Monday accusing the BJP-led government of violating the Election Model Code of Conduct (MCC) by continuing with the job recruitment process of different government departments.
It then urged the ruling government to stop violating the rules for its own interests.
On Monday, Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president hied a complaint to the CEO with regard to continuation of recruitment process for different posts in 13 departments including Sericulture, Agriculture, Education (S), Ayush, Minor Irrigation, Veterinary, Forest, and MSPCL, while the MCC is in effect in the state.
In connection with the complaint letter submitted to the office of CEO at Lamphelpat, MPCC Legal Department vice chairman Rabi Khan stated that continuation of the recruitment process in 13 government departments after the MCC came into effect on March 16 is against the rules.
He questioned the agenda of the government in issuing cards at employment exchanges in the name of providing job to unemployed youth.
Even if the recruitment process is to be conducted, it should be carried out after lapse of MCC.
However, compelling the people to waste their time at employment exchange seems like a deliberate attempt to take advantage of the election.
If the CEO fails to take up any against such acts of the government, MPCC will further file a complaint to ECI, he added.
The vice chairman continued that it is unfortunate of the BJP government to engage in such activities to win the elections.
As such, he urged the authority concerned to take up appropriate action on the matter, while further asking all concerned to stop distributing money and canying out illegal activities to gain victory in the polls.
Rabi also mentioned the mass gathering of womenfolk in front of the CM Bungalow is in violation of the MCC, and said that a complaint report is being contemplated.
He further mentioned the attempt to manipulate a senior voter in Chingmeirong to vote for BJP candidate, terming it as a serious matter.
