World Environment Day celebrated by WSFM

As part of World Environment Day on June 5, the World Social Forum, Manipur planted 100 saplings including fruit bearing plants, China teak, etc.
at Eco Green Park a hillock site of Ishikha under the theme "Seven Billion Dreams, one planet, consume with care".
In a press note by Co-Convener World Social Forum, Manipur the celebration were attended by L.Sotinkumar, General Secretary, AITUC, Manipur and also the Chairman of World Social Forum, Manipur, Dr.Chinglen Maisnam, Professor, Manipur University among others.
It further added that a two day social service camp was conducted on two day ahead of the programme at the surrounding place of Ishikha.
.LSotinkumar as one of the main speaker asserted that the climate change is considered as one of the most important global environmental challenges being faced by modern humanity due to deforestation, urbanization, industrialization, emission of carbon dioxide, methane gas and main causes of neo-liberal policies of Mafia corporate houses in the name of development.
It added that the Forum would organize tree plantation drives in large scales at many places from this year.
