Imphal, November 04 2015:
Launching an all out attack against the BJP, Manipur Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam on Wednesday stated that the people of the State should be vigilant against voting BJP to power in Manipur as the party was sure to bring disintegration of Manipur.
The Deputy Chief Minister said this while speaking a one-day political conference at Lalambung Makhong Community Hall, Imphal.
The conference was organised by Thangmeiband Block Congress Committee.
Gaikhangam who was the Chief Guest of the conference stated that BJP will only bring turmoil in Manipur as witnessed in the past.
The State saw a massive uprising during the BJP led NDA regime at the Centre over the extension of ceasefire coverage area to Manipur and now the recently signed Naga Peace Accord has already haunted the people of the State, said Gaikhangam.
He pointed out that while signing an accord, it should be made public like the Congress Government at the Centre did when it signed the Mizo Accord in 1986.He said the BJP led Government at the Centre has been keeping the contents of the Naga Peace Accord or the framework agreement a secret as if there is a hidden agenda.
On the BJP's ties with Naga People's Front (NPF), Gaikhangam pointed out that integration of all the Naga inhabited areas is the aim of NPF and voting BJP into power will be like encouraging the disintegration of Manipur where different communities have been living together since time immemorial.
The political conference was also attended by Jotin Waikhon, MLA N Loken, PHED Minister and many other office bearers of MPCC.
Meanwhile, an election campaign of INC candidate at Thongju A/C, Bijoy Koijam was organised by Thongju Kendra Election Committee at Khongman Mangjil Primary School of Imphal East.
Attending the campaign as Chief Guest, Gaikhangam said that MLAs are the servants of the public and cannot take powers into their own hands.
As a result, former MLA of Thongju A/C Th Bishwajit was disqualified from the State Assembly and the coming bye-election will be a competition between those who want to bring development in the State and those who want to disintegrate the State.
The campaign was also attended by Education Minister Moirangthem Okendro, Sugnu A/C MLA Kangujam Ranjit and many other ministers and MLAs.
