Imphal, August 29 2013:
The SAI authority should bring about a solution to the issue of five boxers who are undergoing training under Special Area Games at Khuman Lampak at Sports Authority of India, guardians of the boxers have demanded.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club today, the guardians of the boxers led by one S Anand, M Shanti and T Gunamani charged SAI authority with trying to destroy the career of the five boxers namely L Sanathoi of Waikhong, M Bigyananda of Seijang, S Jim of Keishamthong Elangbam Leikai, T Robertson of Moirang Santhong and S Jackson of Thouda Bhabok Leikai.
They informed that the five boxers were among the 46 boxers who are undergoing training at Khuman Lampak but they missed the assembly session on August 8.They reportedly came late after they attended a Sub-Junior Judo tournament at Khuman Lampak that day after taking due permission from their teachers.
As it was late, the five boxers came through a short-cut road and their teachers stopped them for checking on suspicion of drinking alcohol.
They were also taken for medical examination but returned back without conducting the medical test.
After 3-4 days of this incident, some students complained that those five boxers should not be allowed to stay in the training session and should be sent back home.
Following the complaint, their teacher L Ibomcha sent the five boxers back home on leave for few days.
This whole thing has created lots of problem for the five boxers for no fault of their own.
As such the SAI authority should try to bring about an amicable solution and save the careers of the innocent students, the guardians urged.
