Imphal, January 24 2019:
Vice president of All Manipur United Clubs Organisation (AMUCO) Nando Luwang has asserted that the most dangerous form of warfare is the influx of a large number of a race or people into a region thus wiping out the original population.
He made the statement during the 25 th foundation day of Meira Paibi Welfare Association Kangleipak (MEPWAK) at Maklong today.
Speaking at the event, Nando Luwang said that such an unchecked and sudden influx by a certain community will almost certainly wipe out the old culture/identity.
Such is the dangerous nature of the Citizenship Amendment Bill 2016 which was passed by the Lok Sabha on January 8, he said, claiming that the introduction of the Bill cannot be viewed as just a political tool as it will be a matter of life and death for a small State like Manipur.
Pointing out that now is the right time to rise and face the threat together, Nando continued that if the people fail to unite and oppose the Bill so as to prevent it from being enacted, the future of Manipur is doomed.
The AMUCO vice president further alleged that the State Government claim that the CAB will not harm the State in any way is akin to fooling the people.
Questioning what the Manipur People Bill can do against the might of a dangerous and imposing Bill like the CAB, Nando compared the Manipur People Bill to a regular Home Guard while painting the CAB similar to the Army.
He reasoned that even States like Nagaland Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, which have a provision to protect and safeguard their indigenous population are vehemently opposing the Bill and claimed that the Bill is like a war call for the indigenous people of Manipur.
If the CAB is passed in the Rajya Sabha, the fate of the indigenous people of Manipur can change for the worse in just a night because even now the people of Manipur are living under constant threat of being outnumbered by illegal migrants, he added.
Narrating about the fate of the indigenous people of Tripura who have become a minority in their own land, Nando said that the same situation might befall Manipur if the people fail to realise the warning signs and act accordingly.
Nando explained that around 1 crore and 93 lakh illegal migrants can enter the country under the garb of the CAB and claimed that the result of the CAB may be beneficial to the big hotshot politicians of the country in terms of electoral gains but the CAB will not benefit any of the politicians of the State.
The act of passing the CAB at a time when the people of Manipur are shouting and fighting for the implementation of a Bill for their protection and safeguard, is highly condemnable, Nando said.
On the other hand, president of MEPWAK, R Rengsongak Longa Koireng said that MEPWAK will perform as per the wish and advice of the people of the State and the elders.
He also appealed to all to make the State a well developed and self reliant State.
Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi Apunba Manipur president Longjam Memchoubi and president of All Manipur Women Voluntary Association Yumkhaibam Kunjarani were also present at the event.
