ZUF flays AR for killing its cadre

Imphal, February 06 2013: The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has expressed its anger over the killing of one of its cadres by Assam Rifles in Tamenglong yesterday.

Terming the act as 'unbecoming behavior of 5th & 13th Assam Rifles', the ZUF alleged that the Assam Rifles in civilian dress had killed ZUF cadre identified as one Corporal Khan alias Poukhanlung (22) s/o Dimdailung Gonmei of Raengkhung village, Tamenglong district.

"The Army could have easily arrestted the said corporal of the ZUF without any trouble.

AFSPA is still draconian in all its designs which is not at all safe for the civilians," the ZUF said today.

The ZUF then advised that C.O.Bidya Shankar should make aware of its jawans to understand the need to maintain order and peace with diplomatic designs but not to sabotage agencies of peace.

"The armed wing of ZUF, Zeliangrong Tigers Force (ZTF) cadre had shown courage in his work and mission of containing adversaries.

The ZUF shared the sorrow of the bereaved family and treated the death of corporal Khan as a great loss to all peace lovers," the Zeliangrong outfit added.
