External forces threatening state's unity: CM

Imphal, May 03 2023: Chief Minister N Biren said that some external forces are threatening the unique identity and integrity of Manipur by disturbing the social fabric of the indigenous communities.

While attending an interaction programme of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar with faculty & students of central institutions, master artisans and national awardees on Wednesday, Biren said that people of the state seem to lack knowledge of basic information, especially about land law, forest act, reserved forest, protected forest, wetlands and national highways.

Intellectuals and faculties of higher educational institutions need to organise discourse to create awareness among the people.

There are many people, who think that these laws came into force only in the past few days, he said.

The new National Education Policy focuses on reviving past knowledge for a better future by instilling the sense of nationalism.

People of the state lack nationalism which is why there are violent incidents in the state, he said.

Expressing concern over the emerging situation, Biren stressed the need to explore areas to instil sense of nationalism among the youths through education.
