Imphal, August 31 2016: Co-ordinating Body of Trade Unions, Manipur will support the 12-hour country-wide general strike to be staged from 6 am to 6 pm on September 2 .

Central trade unions, employees federations, teachers' and students' unions would support to the stir, said CBTUM Chairman Sotinkumar.

Demands of the union include controlling price rise with proper distribution of PDS items to the public, eradication of unemployment by formulating a proper plan, implementation of all the labour laws, punishment to those who violate labour laws, provide social security to workers and provide minimum wage of Rs 18,000 to all the workers per month.

INTUC general secretary Yumnam Rana Pratap said that the general strike would be clamped with an aim to bring welfare for the workers, street vendors and auto rickshaw drivers etc.
