69 new cases, lowest TPR since April 13

After over six months of the second wave of the Covid-19 pandemic unfolding in the state, Thursday reported the lowest daily Test Positivity Rate (TPR) since April 13 with 69 new positive cases out of 2780 samples tested, registering a positivity rate of 2.48 per cent against Wednesday's 5.10 per cent.
April 13 reported 3.21 per cent positivity rate while the previous day recorded 1.97 per cent, during which the second wave was yet to hit the state.
No new fatality was report ed in the last 24 hours and the cumulative death toll of Covid-19 remains at 1889.Only eight districts reported Covid cases on Thursday with Imphal West reporting highest count at 30 and Chandel lowest at one new case.
In terms of positivity rate, Kamjong district was the highest at 30 per cent after six persons were found infected out of 20 samples tested while Chandel and Bishnupur districts recorded lowest positivity rate at 1.1 per cent.
Jiribam, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Noney, Pherzawl, Senapati, Tamenglong and Tengnoupal did not report any new positive cases on Thursday.
The active caseload came down to 1444 on Thursday out of which 204 (14.20 per cent) are in home isolation, 419 (29.02 per cent) in CHICs, 506 (35.04 per cent) in CCCs and 314 (21.75 per cent) in hospitals.
Among the hospitalised patients, 77 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 67 are on oxygen support and 22 on ventilator support.
However, there is no report on number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS even though it has 154 patients.
On the other hand, there are five patients on oxygen support in different CCCs.
As of Thursday evening, 551 beds including 103 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.
There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Wednesday evening 2669 beds were available in different Covid Care Centres and 423 beds (25 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.
So far, the state has recorded 93,032 positive cases and 1515 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic.
The current month has recorded 1848 new cases and 34 fatalities out of which 854 new cases and 13 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.
According to official reports, all the 69 new positive cases (33 male & 36 female) are from among the general population and their samples were detected at RIMS (2), JNIMS (13) and other testing centres (54).The positive cases are from Imphal East (10), Imphal West (30), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (2), Ukhrul (5), Chandel (11), Churachandpur (4) and Kamjong (6) .
All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.
In the last 24 hours, 84 patients were discharged from home isolation (14), RIMS (12), JNIMS (16) and CCCs (42) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,22,432 (general population - 1,18,122 and CAPF personnel - 4,310) .
Number of recovered cases is 1,19,099 (general population - 1,14,814 and CAPF personnel - 4,285) and number of active cases is 1,444 (general population - 1,424 and CAPF personnel - 20) .
The recovery rate is 97.28 per cent.
A total of 770 D-type and 196 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities on Wednesday.
Only 5374 vaccine doses were administered on Wednesday which took the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 12,33,722 including 5,66,750 fully vaccinated people.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (42,492), Imphal East (27,070), Thoubal (9400), Churachandpur (10,098), Kangpokpi (2769), Tamenglong (3272), Bishnupur (9097), Senapati (2216), Ukhrul (2856), Kakching (6362), Chandel (2309), Noney (1066), Tengnoupal (1048), Jiribam (1020), Kamjong (894) and Pherzawl (463) .
Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (629), Imphal East (446), Thoubal (172), Churachandpur (159), Kangpokpi (59), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (189), Senapati (10), Ukhrul (38), Kakching (110), Chandel (35), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 39,456 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 24,348 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,30,106 tests per million population against the national average of 4,20,546 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.54 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2780 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 2.48 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity came down to 9.17 per cent.
