Art for 'Better Earth, Better Living'

Participated by around 180 students from different schools, an Art Competition on the theme "Better Earth, Better Living" was organized by Midas Touch, as a part of its awareness campaign on biodiversity conservation at St Anthony's High School, Sangakpham today.
The Art Competition which was partially funded by Cogbiz Business Solution, Gurgaon for school students was held in two different categories.
The first category was for students of Class II to V and the second category for students of Class VI to VIII .
Speaking on the sideline of the competition, Dr B Debkumari, President of Midas Touch, said that the Art Competition is being organized to create a sense of awareness among the students, who are future pillars of the society, as to enable protection and preservation of our Mother Earth.
Tree saplings have also been planted in the campus of St Anthony's School by the students themselves and the students have been fixed responsibilities to take care of the trees planted.
Students whose trees developed the best would be awarded with prizes next year, Debkumari added.
In the art competition, Lisham Sushanta of UNACCO School bagged the first prize while Malemnganba Waikhom of Sishu Nistha Niketan and Laishram Nestily of UNACCO School were awarded the second and the third prize respectively in the first category.
In the second category, Jackson of New Era School took away the first prize while L Roshan of Regular English School and Panmeilan Panmei of St Anthony's High School respectively went home with the second and the third prize.
The first prize carries a cash reward of Rs 2000.The second prize carries Rs 1500 while the third prize carries Rs 1000 .
