Mass sit-in held

Imphal, March 17 2015:
A mass sit-in protest was staged in different parts of the State on Tuesday over the failure of the State Government to mention a clear policy to safeguard the indigenous people in the Manipur Regulation of Visitors, Tenants and Migrant workers Bill 2015 (MRVT & MW Bill 2015) .
Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai Women Development Association organised a protest dharna at Maibam leikai community hall denouncing the Bill.
President of the association, Maibam Lalita Devi said there will be no peace in Manipur since the State Government has invited public agitation by failing to incorporate in the Bill all the proposed five points of Joint Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) meant for safeguarding the indigenous people.
Poirei Leimarol Meira Paibi also held a sit-in protest against the Bill at Thangmeiband Khoyathong.
They demanded the Chief Minister to resign from his post over the controversial Bill.
The protest was also staged at Bamon Kampu Makha Leikai community hall, Keishampat community hall, Leishangkhong, Napetpalli, Khumbong Keithel, Andro Keithel and Thoubal.
