Volunteer training programme promotes awareness on ethical organ donation

Imphal, December 16 2025:
With the goal of promoting awareness on deceased organ donation, a two-day "Angel of Change - Volunteer Training Programme" commenced today at the State Medical Board Room, Directorate of Health Services (DHS), Imphal, with the support of DHS.
The programme organised by Multi Organ Harvesting Aid Network (MOHAN) Foundation, Imphal, was inaugurated by Dr N Hemantakumar Singh, Director, Health Services, as chief guest; Dr Sinam Rajendra Singh, former Urologist, RIMS, Imphal as guest of honour; Dr Kh Lokeshwar Singh, Medical Superintendent, JNIMS as the president, as per a statement issued by MOHAN Foundation.
At the event, a Training Manual was also released.
Special invitees present included Dr N Shugeta Devi, Deputy Director, DHS; Anisha Khundongbam, Deputy Director (Finance & Operations) and Nodal Officer for Organ Donation and Transplantation, SHIJA Hospital and Research Institute Pvt Ltd and Dr Homendro, SNO, SOTTO, Manipur.
During the programme, Laishram Monica Devi, Project Coordinator (North East) and Project Lead (Manipur), MOHAN Foundation, was honoured with a recognition for her leadership and dedicated contribution towards strengthening organ donation initiatives in Manipur by the Director Health Services.
The training aimed to equip volunteers, healthcare professionals, medical social workers and students with essential knowledge and communication skills to promote ethical organ donation at the community level.
