KSO, CCpur calls 24 hours gen strike

Imphal, August 31 2016: The Kuki Students' Organisation, Churachandpur has imposed a 24 hour general strike at Churachandpur district to condemn the incident wherein some invitees of the Churachandpur JAC were stopped at Tiddim road from attending the Tribal Unity Day and the subsequent hostile situation that prevailed in the area.

The general strike will come into force from midnight of August 31 .

The general strike and public curfew have also been called in public interest to prevent further aggravation of the already prevailing hostile situation, said the student body in a statement.

Media, medical emergencies, water supply and those on telecom duties will be exempted from the purview of the general strike, it added.
