Betuk Villagers resettled 20 yrs after ethnic clash

After being displaced for more than 20 years due to ethnic clash in the past, Betuk Villagers came back and resettled at the original village site near T Minou along Indo-Myanmar border in Chandel District.
The Village was resettled after a formal function held at the village on Wednesday in which Reverend R Khular, President of Lamkang Christian Forum invoked the almighty's blessing for the newly resettled village.
Speaking during the function, SK John Moningam, General Secretary of Lamkang Naga Kver Kunpun expressed gratitude to the Naga Tribe from Myanmar for their support to the villagers.
The General Secretary also thanked the 9 Assam Rifles and neighbouring tribal villages for the co-operation extended to the villagers.
The resettlement function was attended by Db Thamdok Lamkang, President of LKK and his colleagues besides the leaders of Lamkang Snu Lop, Chiefs Association Leaders of Western and Eastern Lamkang among others.
It may be mentioned that the Betuk Village of Lamkang community was displaced and temporarily shifted near Chandel District Headquarters during the past Naga-Kuki ethnic clash in the 1990s.
