'Govt not to compromise on territorial integrity'

The state government of Manipur and civil organisations has taken seriously to the reports regarding the 'Supra State Body' for the Nagas which came out in some of the leading papers in Imphal.
Speaking at the sidelines of the Childrens Day celebration held at Congress Bhawan, Chief Minister Okram Ibobi said that he has no knowledge with regard to the "Supra-State Body" for the Nagas.
The Central Government has not yet intimated to the State Government pertaining to the information revealed by Guwahati based Seven Sisters Post which was reproduced by some leading Imphal dailies today.
Speaking on the credibility of creation of a "Supra-State Body" for the Nagas, O Ibobi further said that the state government will never compromise on the territorial integrity of Manipur.
No information was received regarding the proposed Supra-State Body.
The Union Minister and the Prime Minister will be called to account on the offer.
He also said that the Congress party has been doing its best to safeguard the territory and integrity of Manipur.
Speaking to reporters MPCC President Gaikhangam said that Congress will never do such detrimental thing that may threaten the territory and integrity of the State.
"We have protected the territorial integrity of Manipur and will still do so", he insisted.
It may be recalled that the Seven Sisters Post newspaper reproduced by Imphal based dailies today, said that the negotiations between the Indian Government and the NSCN-IM faction are now in its final stages, and Seven Sisters Post newspaper has access to all its many details.
The final settlement envisages a "special federal relationship" between India and Nagaland and creation of a"Supra-state body" for the Nagas of Manipur, Assam and Arunachal Pradesh to be given as this year's Christmas gift to "preserve, protect and promote their cultural, social and customary practices", according to a report published by The Seven Sisters Post.
The offer to create a pan-Naga 'Supra State Body', instead of the "Greater Nagalim" demanded by the NSCN, has been touted by Indian negotiators as the "Second best option for the Naga people", the report said.
