Parents rally against PMT cancellation

Imphal, June 13 2013: Decrying the sudden cancellation of State Pre-Medical Test (PMT) by a resolution of State Cabinet, parents and guardians of aspiring medical students under the banner of All Manipur MBBS-BDS Entrance Examination-2013 Parents and Guardians Association took out a rally starting from Sagolband Jiri Parking today afternoon.

However, the rally was foiled by the police after some time.

Secretary of All Manipur MBBS-BDS Entrance Examination-2013 Parents and Guardians Association K Arun demanded that the State government should review its decision to cancel the PMT and conduct the test as soon as possible in the interest of the aspiring medical students.

The Association has submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister and the Health Minister, but so far they have not given any response.

The parents and guardians are prepared to launch intense agitations, he contended.

Arun further pointed out that some states have already conducted their own PMTs, and so the State government should make arrangement to conduct the test at the earliest.

The aspiring candidates are now disheartened by the conduct of the State government, he added.
