Special police team to trace abducted supplier : Chief Minister

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi today assured that the State Assembly that a special police team led by an SP would be tracing the supplier who has been abducted by suspected NSCN-IM cadres.
The Chief Minister was responding to a call attention motion raised by Opposition MLA Shyamkumar who wanted to know about the government plan to rescue the abducted supplier Irabanta of Itham.
The Chief Minister informed the House that wife of Irabanta had lodged a complaint on June 8 stating that her husband has remained traceless after he went to Ukhrul on May 27 in a Gypsy.
Since was a long delayed in lodging the complaint, police have been facing some difficulties in tracing the missing supplier.
Nonetheless, the Government has taken serious note of the matter and instructed SPs of all district to stay alert.
A special team of state police led by an SP has been assigned to trace the supplier, the Chief Minister said, while appealing to the people of the state to cooperate with the police in rescuing Irabanta.
The Chief Minister further informed the House that Irabanta used to work for Thoubal Dam construction as a sub contractor.
But there are reports of his work had been terminated.
So, the reason of his going to Ukhrul needs to be ascertained by the police.
Police would take the help of NGOs if needed.
Moving the call attention motion, MLA Shyamkumar said that Irabanta is a supplier of stone chips and sands for construction of Thoubal Multipurpose Project.
One Willer from Ukhrul called him over his phone on May 26 and he went to Ukhrul the following day.
There are reports that he has been abducted NSCN-IM.
The MLA further said that NSCN-IM, which is undergoing peace talk with the India government, has been indulging in terrorist activities in the state since long.
They can't be left unanswered forever.
Family members of Irabanta had enquired whereabouts of him by going to Ukhrul.
However they could not find Willer.
When enquired about Willer and Irabanta, wife of Willer also could not give any valuable information.
They had also talked with many CSOs in Ukhrul but to no avail, Shyamkumar said.
