Demand for monetary aid raised : Families set March 25 deadline

Family memberofthe people who were injured during the Khwairamband bazar temporary market shed blast arc set to launch intense agitations if the victims are not compensated by the State Government within March 2 5 .
This was stated by one Md Majid, who spoke to reporters on behalf of the families of injured victims at Khwairamband bazar, where women vendors are currently staging a relay hunger strike demanding arrest of the culprits, who were behind the blast that claimed the life of three persons and left more than 20 persons injured.
Saying that most of the injured victims are the sole earners of their respective families, Md Majid urged the Government to release the compensation amount at the earliest.
He said that no compensation amount has been given to them till date although Chief Minister Okram Ibobi had announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakhs each to the families of the persons who died in the incident and a compensation of Rs 2 lakh each to the injured persons.
Md Majid said that they are facing lots of hardship in
borrowing money to purchase medicines while hospital charges are also increasing with each passing day.
Saying that around 10 persons arc still undergoing treatment in different hospitals, Md Majid said that Sorokhaibam Biren (47) of Heingang Makha Leikai, Khundrakpam Medhapati of Kwakeithel Moirangpurel, Mumtaz Begum (40) of Kairang, Moirangthem Thaba (32) of Tentha IChunjao, Md Akbar (45) of Khabeisoi, Thounaojam Ibomcha (45) of Tera Sapam Leirak and his wife Pushpa (40) are still critical.
He said that among the injured persons, Sorokhaibam Biren' s condition is the most critical.
He said that after the removal of one of his kidneys, Sorokhaibam Biren is now facing the complicacy of the other kidney weakening.
His right hand is also paralysed now, Md Majid said.
With support from different civil society organisations, families of the injured persons would launch an intense agitation if they are not compensated by March 25, he added.
Women vendors, who were staging relay hunger strike on the issue, pledged support to the decision of the families of injured persons.
