Imphal, May 16 2020:
State Police detained as many as 1,030 lockdown violators and imposed a fine of more than Rs 1 lakh today.
So far, police have imposed a total of Rs 35,64,760 as fine, said a statement issued by Additional Director General of Police (L/O), L Kailun.
During the drive today to enforce COVID-19 curfew/lockdown, 1,030 violators along with 692 vehicles were detained and imposed Rs 1,11,300 as fine, said the statement.
It may be noted that the Police Department has been cracking down on lockdown violators since the coronavirus outbreak forced the country and the State to sealed off borders and
curb non-essential movements.
