Congress trying to snatch power in some district councils: Chaoba

State BJP chief Th Chaoba claimed on Sunday the Ibobi the Congress was attempting to grasp power by any means in some district councils in the hills.
The ruling Congress is using vigour to form some councils, Th Chaoba told pressmen at the party office here.
He said Congress had have committed acts of intimidation against the electorate in its effort to secure seats by party candidates in the Autonomous District Council (ADC) polls held on June 1 as well as in the re-polls.
He said Congress had used muscle power during the polls and that the party also took the help of militant groups under suspension of operation (SoO) in massive poll rigging.
The Congress, which had put up only three candidates in Churachandpur ADC, has already declared that it would form council in the district which has 24 seats, the Manipur BJP president claimed.
"This stand shows Congress is going to use huge money to buy members" .
He insisted that the Congress is hoping to form councils in Sadar Hills, Chandel and Churachandpur by hook or by crook.
Chaoba, however, was confident of winning a large number of ADC seats and expressed that people in the hill districts have faith on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) .
The former MP further said that the Naga people's Front (NPF) also threatened the electorate not to exercise their voting franchise in favour of other parties during the polls.
