Ashes of Kunjamohan submerged in Barak

As wished by him, the ashes of eminent writer late Nongthombam Kunjamohan Singh, who passed away recently, were submerged in Barak river along with paying with fitting tributes during a function organised jointly by Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Assam; Cachar District Committee; Barak Upeitoka Bango Sahitya and Sanskriti Sanmelan, Silchar yesterday morning.
People from different walks of life also paid respect to the ashes of the late writer at the office of Upeitoka Bango Sahitya and Sanskriti Sanmelan, Silchar.
Dr.Maimom Shantikumar Singh on behalf of Cachar District Committee, Manipur Sahitya Parishad, Assam, recalled that the writer had wanted his ash remains to be submerged in Barak river after his death.
He said, as N.Kunjamohan had worked in the field of literature without any communal considerations, people of various communities living in Cachar, Assam came to participate in the programme.
On behalf of the Upeitoka Bango Sahitya and Sanskriti Sanmelan Silchar, noted persons including Dipak Sen Gupta and Teimur Raja Choudhury spoke on the occasion.
Brothers of the late writer, N.Bala and N.Nande Singh also took part in the programme which was also attended by Teimur Raja Choudhury, Okram Churamani, Laishram Manglemba, Thangjam Paolen, Dipak Bartocharjee, Dipak Sen Gupta, Oinam Nilakantha and Emat Uddin Bul Bul.
