Athuan died for Manipur's integrity: Father

A sit-in protest was staged by residents of Grace Colony, Ta-rung demanding justice to Athuan Abonmai in front of his house at Tarung on Saturday.
Joining the protest, Athuan Abonmai's father Namjinlung said that his "Son sacrificed his life for the integrity of the state and the government must deliver justice.
As Athuan Abonmai was found killed after having abducted from a programme venue attended by the chief minister, the government ought to deliver justice to Athuan for he died for the cause of protecting integrity of Manipur, the heartbroken father said.
One of the meira paibi protestors stated that the government's response to the incident was very disappointing as the security forces present at the programme venue made no attempt to save Abonmai from the abductors and even after the abduction no search was organised to rescue him.
Meanwhile, leaders of Communist Party of India-Manipur State Council (CPI MSC) on Saturday visited the residence of Athuan Abonmai at Tarung, Thangmeiband and expressed condolences to the bereaved family members.
CPI-MSC delegates extended their full support to the total shutdown being called by the JAC in connection with the incident.
It further informed Abonmai's wife that leaders of the party have left for Delhi to consult with CPI National Council so as to prevail upon the central government for removal of all camps of NSCN(IM) from the soil of Manipur.
Stating that CPI was the first political party to raise objection to the extension of cease fire in the state, the party conveyed reaffirmed the same stand to the family as well as the JAC, whose representatives were also present on the occasion.
