Imphal, April 16 2015 :
Over 17 thousand of students studying in various Catholic Schools may lose one precious academic year if no one takes up steps to resolve differences over running of these schools and also if the underground group refuses to revoke the ban imposed on them.
Talking to the Hueiyen Lanpao, a functionary of the Catholic Educational Society Manipur (CESM) on Thursday informed that one underground group had imposed a ban on Catholic schools in the valley and the school administration from April 7 allegedly demanding admission reservation policy.
The CESM appealed the underground group to revoke the ban in the interest of the students.
The society has urged the group to settle all differences amicably over the negotiating table and pointed out that the ban imposed on these schools will result in weakening the students' career prospects besides causing immeasurable loss to the State's future human resource.
The society members had already held several rounds of meetings with Government representatives and between all these schools in an effort to resolve the matter.
CESM informed that this was the third time Catholic schools have been locked-up and demanded that educational institutions should be declared a free zone.
The society also expects that the committee constituted by the Government on April 9 was yet to submit its report to the society for resolving the current crisis faced by the Catholic schools.
The society also appealed all parents and van drivers to help the schools in bringing about an immediate and amicable solution to the problem.
