Chief minister N Biren on Wednesday virtually inaugurated the newly constructed UNACCO Senior Secondary School for arts stream at Utlou Chanura Bazar, Bishnupur.
While encouraging a competitive spirit among the schools to improve state of education in the state, the CM said that the government's School Fagathansi mission is not aimed at suppressing private schools but to create a competitive atmosphere for ushering in quality education.
He then urged private schools to fix rate of fees considering the socio-economic condition of the state and its people.
UNACCO Group is taking up various projects in the state, which is praiseworthy.
The government will remain grateful to UNACCO Group for their support during the first wave of Covid-19 by offering its school building and infrastructure.
Private partnership has become important in bringing development and prosperity in a society, the CM said.
He appreciated UNACCO Group for opening the Arts stream school under Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) and said that value based education has become the need of the hour.
The present generation is no longer aware of history of the state and they no longer care for patriotism and nationalism.
It is time that the present and future generations are taught about the rich history of the once independent nation and re-construction of Kangla Eastern Gate is taken up in this line.
The government has already advised COHSEM, BSEM and SCERT to include chapters that can instil a sense of patriotism among the students along with imparting knowledge on the rich culture and tradition such as folk songs, folk tales, relationship between Meetei and different tribal communities in their syllabus, he said.
The CM further said that politics is not only about repairing roads and getting contract works.
It is to bridge the communication gap and bring closer different communities.
UNACCO School chairman N Irabanta said that the third school of UNACCO Group located at Chanura Bazar is exclusively for Art and Commerce streams for class 11 and 12.The school has been established under COHSEM.
There are several schools for science stream but the lack of good school for arts and commerce stream has always been felt for a long time, which is why UNACCO Group chose to make it exclusive for teaching the two streams, he added.
