AITUC lauds hiking of honoraria for Anganwadi workers, helpers

All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC), Manipur State Council has applauded the announcement of Social Welfare Minister, Nemcha Kipgen to increase honoraria for Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and helpers.
AITUC, Central Trade Unions and Anganwadi Unions have been demanding the State Government to increase honoraria and wages of the Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and helpers, said a statement of AITUC while welcoming the news of increasing honorarium for Anganwadi Workers from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,500; from Rs 2250 to 3,500 for Mini Workers and from Rs 1,500 to 2,250 for Helpers.
Other States in India have already hiked the honoraria for these workers through a budget allocation from State's share, said AITUC.
The honorarium for Anganwadi workers in some States like Punjab and Telangana have exceeded Rs 10,000 and have seen a substantial increase in incentives besides provisions for minimum wage, the statement continued.
AITUC also drew the attention of the Minister concerned to allocate a separate budget from State's share for the welfare of these workers and helpers.
AITUC asserted that the hike of monthly performance-linked incentive from Rs 100 to Rs 250 is not adequate and requested to make it not less than Rs 500 .
AITUC also appealed all concerned to provide minimum wage not lower than Rs 1,800 to the Anganwadi workers, Mini Anganwadi workers and Helpers.
