Transfer of 3 AR Saibol Outpost Post Commander demanded

Tengnoupal, May 02 2024: The Moirengthel Trade Hub & Development Committee, Tengnoupal district has urged the higher authorities concerned to immediately transfer Major Arun, Post Commander of 3 AR Saibol Outpost under 3 AR Bn, Tengnoupal for his alleged 'inhuman conduct and non-cooperation motives' towards the local timber transporters over the last few months.

A press release by Co-convenor of the aforementioned committee, Marem Hopeson Maring alleged that Major Arun has meted out harassment to the local timber transporters.

The release highlighted that the local timber transporters have been transporting a small collection of timber logs from Moirengthel Village to Pallel via Saibol, Sita and Machi road for their livelihood and to support their families in the midst of the unfavourable conflict situation in Manipur.

The committee listed a number of reasons for their demand for the immediate transfer of Major Arun which include -Major Arun allegedly forcefully made dumping site in Myanmar soil thereby denying dumping of timbers at Moirengthel village enhancing the risk on the workers since they have to stay in foreign land the whole day and night beyond the Taret River.

Major Arun has set a time frame from 9 am to 2 pm for uploading timber which is quite limited to accomplish such heavy task and he demands die timber transporters to produce unrelated Customs Clearance certificate whereas they hold and produce relevant TP from the competent Authority of Forest Department, Govt of Manipur, the committee alleged.

Further the committee went on to allege that the Post Commander threatens the timber transporters with dire consequence if they do not follow his directives.

In view of the above reasons, the committee demanded for the immediate transfer of the Post Commander 3 AR Saibol Outpost failing which a non-cooperation movement against 3 AR Saibol Outpost will be initiated along with the support of the local populace followed by intense form of agitation.
