Jiribam police is taking up all necessary security measures for Erat Thouni (rituals) of Khwairakpa Erel Umang Lai on January 5, said Jiribam police today.
During an inspection at the site today, Jiribam SP M Mubi said that the district police is taking up all measures for public convenience on the occasion.
Anticipating a large number of visitors from the State and outside, the SP said that the police is fully prepared to ensure peaceful conduct of the rituals.
Members of the Khwairakpa Erel Umanglai Ngaksel Lup (KEUNL) Jiribam and KEUNL, Lakhipur, Cachar, Assam took part in the inspection.
Speaking to media persons during a press meet, KEUNL Jiribam secretary in-charge N Sadananda Singh said that the Lups are preparing transports for ferrying the visitors.
To avail the transport facility, visitors have to book tickets from the MSRTC at Moirangkhom on or before January 2 .
After reaching Jiribam, visitors will be provided with further transport services (land and water) to reach the ritual site, he said.
KEUNL Jiribam president, Dr Chandam Kamal Singh also appealed all to visit and take part in the rituals.
KEUNL, Cachar vice president S Biren Singh and other members of both the Lups were present at the press meet.
KEUNL Jiribam and KEUNL Cachar will be jointly holding the rituals.
