Dr Kh Loken flags concerns over electoral roll revision amid unrest

Former Sagolband AC MLA Dr Kh Loken on Sunday said conducting a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls amid Manipur's "unstable situation" is "very unfortunate".
Speaking at a Gratitude Day programme of the Sagolband Block Congress Committee at Kakhulong Community Hall, he, noted that people want an NRC before Census, yet Census work continues.
"Congress stands for NRC first, then Census", he said.
Dr Loken urged political parties to closely monitor SIR, citing reports from other States of bias favouring ruling parties.
He called for thorough training of BLOs, clear ECI instructions, and impartial verification.
Dr Loken pointed out that Sagolband AC had only 26 polling stations in the proposed SIR base year, compared to 36 now.

Flagging the May 13 violence, he said rushing SIR is "shocking" and appealed for adequate time to prevent irregularities and protect genuine voters' rights.
