Imphal, April 16 2015 :
There is general disappointment and despondency following the announcement by the Chief Minister Okram Ibobi that the CBI has refused to probe the case of recovery of sjkull from the premises of Tombisana higher secondary school by the construction labourers who were sscooping earth from the compound.
Ibobi made the announcement at the sidelines of the function of observing the birth anniversary of Dr B.R.Ambedkar on Thursday at the Congress office.
Ibobi said that fund had been released for the construction of the marketing complex.
But following the recovery of skulls the construction works are stalled.
At the same the union home ministry has sent a letter to the state government informing that the CBI cannot take up the case.
No reason was furnished.
More than half of the works are completed.
The government had suggested that representatives of the civil organisations can be present in the site while the earth is being dug up with video cameras.
This is in anticipation that more skeletons may be found.
However no agreement is reached with the civil societies, he disclosed.
Referring to the agitations by the VDF personnel he said the demands are reasonable.
However due to financial constraints the demands cannot be conceded for the time being.
Other groups like the home guards will demand their pound of flesh if the remuneration of the VDF is increased.
If demands are granted on the basis of strikes and blockades there will be such agitations in plenty.
He said that some officias are embroiled, according to news reports, in money taking business for fresh appointments.
If these are found to be factual the guilty ones shall be punished.
Ibobi said that Dr Ambedkar was the chairman of the drafting committee of the Indian constituition.
As the constitution is flawless democracy is a success in India, he said.
He believes that other parties cannot rule the country for a long time that the Congress shall come to power once again.
Those who were present in the function paid floral tribute to the photograph of Dr Ambedkar.
