Imphal, January 14 2013:
After the controversy over the attempt to allow 7000 students to appear in Matric exam by registering them in Class VIII, IX and X on a single day in 2011, Board of Secondary Education Manipur (BSEM) has yet again found on the wrong side of the road by attempting to make another 4000 students to appear in the 2013 Board exam fraudulently, Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) has alleged.
Addressing media persons in this regard at its Keishampat head office here today, Wangmayum Islauddin, President of DESAM, stated that the controversy over the attempt to allow 7000 students to appear in the Matric exam through backdoor may have been closed by the then Chairman Dr Suresh Babu after declaring them unfit.
However, after some of the students from among the 7000 have appeared in the exam through various Boards, the Chairman of BSEM, its Secretary and the members are yet again trying their level best to make 4000 students, who could not appear in the exam under any Board, to appear in the Matric exam this time, he said, adding that DESAM would not allow such fraudulent admission at all.
Islauddin also pointed out the need to constitute a Committee under the leadership of Education Minister M Okendro to investigate into the matter and give befitting punishment to the wrong doers.
Furthermore, he appealed to the concerned authority to frame a specific law which can counter and prevent such cases from happening in future.
