Senapati, October 31 2015 :
United Naga Council (UNC) has issued fresh statement on enforcing the 10-day economic blockade from Nov 2 midnight.
According UNC President Gaidon Kamei, the council through the collaboration of tribe hohos and apex bodies will strictly monitor the movements of all commercial trucks ferrying essential goods into Manipur along NH-2 and NH-37.However, the UNC Chief informed that all vehicles carrying life saving materials and oxygen will be exempted from the purview of the ten-day economic blockade.
UNC warned that it will intensify the agitation if the Central Government fails to react positively to the present situation in Manipur.
It is high time the Government of India intervenes into the present unrest and considers the plight of the tribal communities of Manipur who are being suppressed and discriminated by the Manipur State Government, said UNC.
The UNC President also warned that anyone who attempts to defy the blockade will be "seriously dealt with" and that the Nagas will not be responsible for any consequences.
All apex district bodies and tribe hohos have also been directed to impose the bandh effectively within their respective jurisdictions.
It noted that, the Government of India should intervene urgently into the present social and political turmoil in Manipur.
It may be recalled that UNC on Friday had announced imposition of the ten-day economic blockade and a ban of all National and International projects in Manipur.
