Imphal, August 31 2016:
Defying the State-wide 12 hours bandh called by BJP State unit today, Democratic Students Alliance Manipur (DESAM) Imphal East District branch ensured normal classes continued at Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai Upper Primary School and Top Makha Leikai Upper Primary School.
DESAM Imphal East Branch general secretary Nongthombam Thoithoiba said frequent bandh and blockades in the State are disturbing the academic atmosphere of schools.
"How can we bring quality education when the number of bandhs and blockades in a year exceeds the number of classes", he questioned.
Educational institutions should be left out from the purview of any form of bandhs or blockades.
With this view, DESAM, Imphal East district branch volunteers ensured continuation of normal classes at Kongpal Chingangbam Leikai Upper Primary School and Top Makha Leikai Upper Primary School.
The alliance general secretary urged school teachers and students to attend school despite bandhs or blockade.
He has also appealed to all the stakeholders to leave out educational institutions from the purview of any form of protest/agitation.
