CM launches projects, vows uniform development

Along with inaugurating various infrastructural projects and laying foundation stone for construction of College of Nursing in Churachandpur district on Wednesday, chief minister N Biren said that the government is for the people and will always work for the people's welfare to bring development in all sectors.
The projects inaugurated by the CM included Girls Hostel of GNM Training School, Multipurpose Hall, Mini Secretariat and Sadbhavna Mandap.
He also handed over vehicles to the Autonomous District Council (ADC), Churachandpur and launched mass plantation drive in the district.
Speaking at the Van Mahotsava celebration held at District Training Centre, Mini Secretariat, Biren maintained that the state government has undertaken many infrastructure development projects in the district.
Informing that the Churachandpur Medical College will be able to start its first session from September this year with intake capacity of 100 seats, he also recalled that the government had earlier dedicated a Model School at Singhat constructed at a cost of Rs 24 crore, distributed three ambulances to the ADC and set up a PSA Oxygen Plant among others.
The CM said one of his purposes for the visit was to join civil society organisations of the district in launching the mass tree plantation programme in connection with the Van Mahotsav celebration.
Expressing elation that leaders of over 200 villages had come out in support of the mass tree plantation programme, he further cautioned that damage to ecological balance and large scale deforestation had been the major cause of global warming and other deadly diseases.
As such, mass tree plantation programme was being taken up to restore the balance of nature, Biren aid and thanked the Forest Department and voluntary organisations for their efforts and support to the initiative.
He also noted that many villages in the district had already abandoned poppy plantations and replaced the illegal activities through commercially viable fruit bearing plants.
The chief minister arrived here around 11:20 am straightaway laid the foundation stone for Churachan-dpur Nursing College near the district hospital before dedicating Nursing Girls' Hostel located nearby the denizens.
At Tuibuong, he inaugurated the Sadbhavna Mandap and joined the gathering in planting tree sapling at the Mini Secretariat campus.
He then handed over handed over keys of one each tipper and an excavator (JCB) to ADC-Ccpur chief executive officer Lalthajam.
Among others, the CM was accompanied by tribal affairs and hills minister Vungzaging Valte, forest minister Awangbow Newmai, Rajya Sabha MP Sanajaoba Leisemba, Churachandpur MLA V Hangkhanlian, Singngat MLA GS Haupu, Langthabal MLA Karam Shyam, Saikot MLA TN Haokip and Kakching MLA M Rameshwar, DGP LM Khaute, secretary to Chief Minister Ningthoujam Geoffrey, DC and SP Churachandpur.
