Bomb attack at HTC chief's house ; 12 Hr Moreh Bandh Imposed

Following a grenade attack by unidentified miscreants at the Moreh residence of Jangmang Haokip, President of Hill Tribal Council, Moreh this forenoon, a 12-hour bandh has been announced in the border town including NH-2 beginning from 6pm today apart from imposing indefinite border bandh.
Police report said unidentified miscreants triggered the blast at the residence of Jangmang Haokip located at Moreh Ward No 3 around 12.15 pm today.
The grenade exploded near the room of Jangmang's ailing mother.
The HTC president was at his office when the incident occurred.
No casualty, however, has been reported.
Personnel of Moreh police, police commandos and 9 AR rushed to the spot and launched a manhunt.
No arrest has been, made in connection with the incident.

An emergency meeting convened by HTC Moreh has decided to impose a 12-hour Moreh bandh including NH-2 from 6 pm today.
A mass rally, to denounce the bomb attack was also staged and a memorandum was handed to the ADC and SDPO of Moreh today.
The rally, joined among others, by various Moreh-based women organisations, also raised slogans condemning the bomb attack at the residence of a community leader.
No individual or organisation has claimed responsibility for the blast so far.
Condemning the incident, a memorandum submitted to the ADC and SDPO demanded the arrest of the culprits involved in the incident within 24 hours.
Quoting eyewitnesses, the memo signed by representatives of HTC, KWU&HR, KSO Moreh Block, and MYC pointed out that the 'gun wielding' perpetrators escaped through no-man's land towards Namphalong side in Myanmar after hurling the grenade.
It also urged the Myanmar authority to hand-over the culprits within 24 hours to the Indian security forces.
Sealing of border until security is ensured in Moreh, sanitisation of criminals operating from neighbouring Myanmar, Namphalong and Tamu by way of joint efforts with Myanmar Govt are the demands raised in the memo.
The representation also urged security agencies of Moreh to prove their presence by ensuring full security in Moreh.
