NSP observes Nepali Language Day

Nepali Sahitya Parishad (NSP) observed the 30th Nepali Language Day today virtually through Google Meet.
NSP Manipur in a press release stated that Nepali, Manipuri and Konkani languages were included in the 8th Schedule of Indian Constitution on August 20,1992 and since then NSP Manipur has been observing Nepali Language Day ever year.
Durga Sharma, former president of NSP Manipur inaugurated the programme by lighting diya and the secretary of the Parishad, Deepak Pantha highlighted the aims and visions of the literary organisation of Nepali Sahitya Parishad.
The event was presided by Bhawani Adhikari, president of NSP Manipur, Man Prasad Subba, Sahitya Academy Awardee, Retired Prof Durga Sharma and Anjan Baskota, Sahitya Academy Awardee from Guwahati, said the press release.
On the occasion, Man Prasad Subba enlightened the attendees about how Indian Gorkhas struggled for inclusion of Nepali Language in the 8th Schedule while Dr Thankanath Khatiwada, advisor of NSP Manipur highlighted the value, importance and scope of Nepali Language.
Altogether 60 members attended the programme today who represented various Nepali organisations in the State.
