The rally originated from Khakhulong and after covering the breadth and length of the city converged at the place where it started.
For trouble torn Manipur, the celebration is very important, said a priest taking part in the march.
He said, "The people's yearning for peace will be heard by Jesus and one day peace will prevail in the state" .
He said, the mass was held to seek the blessings of the Almighty to end the chaotic situation in the state and for a return of brotherhood and love among the different communities in the state.
Expressing worry over the increasing hatred among the people, he said "through the blessings of Jesus, it will be eased and the mass has been organised to spread the message of peace among the people" .
Palm Sunday is celebrated to commemorate the triumphant entry of Christ to Jerusalem before he was crucified.
The message of Christ's love and salvation through his passion is the motto of the celebration, Khaikhong said.
He said "passion" could mean a commitment to a person or a cause and the passion of Christ is love.
The passion of Christ is the will of the Father.
The passion of Christ is our salvation.
