Use of tree transplanter for development projects in the pipeline : Dr Sapam Rajan

Health & Family Welfare Minister, Dr Sapam Rajan has asserted that the Government may purchase transplanters to move trees affected by development projects.
The Minister made the statement today during the foundation stone laying function of Socio Economic & Environment Development Society's (SEEDS) new office building at Olympian Park, Saheibung village.
Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dr Sapam Ranjan shared that the Government is focussed on simultaneously preserving the environment and carrying out development works like construction of roads, bridges, etc.
"Considering the importance of both preserving the environment and development works, the Government has been making plans to purchase tranplanters to move trees instead of felling them for development projects", he added.
Stressing on the importance of preserving the environment, he mentioned that the effects of climate change (variation) such as change in rainfall pattern and heat waves have been visible to all.
"The need to maintain a balance between preserving the environment and development works has become paramount", he added.
He further appealed to the public to take a proactive role and provide their cooperation to the Government to preserve the environment.
Guest of honour of the event, Social Welfare Minister H Dingo Singh also enlightened the gathering on environment degradation.
He also appreciated SEEDS for its effort to preserve the environment and improve the socio-economic condition of the people.
SEEDS president, A Robindra Sharma and Dr T Brajakumar of Directorate of Environment & Climate Change also attended the event as presidium members.
