Stage set for R-Day celebration

The 69th Republic Day celebration will be held at Kangla, Imphal tomorrow starting from at 8 am with Governor Dr Najma Heptulla as the chief guest.
On arrival of the chief guest at the saluting base, she will inspect the guard of honour commanded by Bidyapati Thingbaibam, MPS, Asstt.
Commandant 8th IRB(CDO) Battalion, and unfurl the National flag.
The chief guest will distribute Police Medal for Gallantry, Fire Service Medal for Distinguished Service, Fire Service Medal for Meritorious Service, Correctional Service Medal for Meritorious Service, Home Minister's Medal for Excellence in Police Training etc., to 11 personnel which will be followed by March Past.

Manipur Rifles will be the Parade Commander of the contingents.
Altogether 77 parade contingents and ten cultural troupes will be participating as contingents in this Republic Day Celebration.
The parade contingents include CRPF band, Assam Rifles band, 2nd MR band, Sainik band, 9 IRB (Mahila) band, Home Guard (Male) band, Home Guard (Female) band, MPTC & 2nd IRB combined band, Fire Service band, Young Eagle Brass Band Party Association (A) and Young Eagle Brass Band Party Association (B).
Other contingents are Ex-Servicemen, BSF, CRPF (Male/ Female), 1st B.Meghalaya Armed Police, Manipur Police Commando, Civil Police (Male/Female), Manipur Jail, Manipur Home Guard (Male/Female), VDF, Manipur Fire Service, Traffic Police, NCC, Manipur State Bharat Scout & Guides (Boys/Girls), colleges, higher secondary schools and high schools.
On the other hand, 17 tableaus of different departments will showcase their achievements to the public on the occasion of Republic Day celebration.
Later at 11 am, vote of thanks ceremony will be held at 1st Bn Manipur Rifles parade ground where Chief Minister N Biren Singh will give vote of thanks to all the participants.
