Wares and clothes stocked at Phouoibi and Emoinu sheds in Khairamband Ema Keithel for almost two months were seen cleared by respective vendors today as the Nationwide lockdown continues.
Speaking to the Sangai Express, RK Radhesana, who vends clothes at the market, said that business at Phouoibi and Emoinu sheds have been brought to a standstill since the imposition of the lockdown due to COVID-19 .
The vendors, hoping to resume their sale, have been keeping their stuff for months, but started removing it from today as per a police order issued on Friday.
She also contended that the notification may be linked with the repairing of the market which is to be undertaken by Imphal Municipal Corporation and authorities concerned.
The valuable stuff and other important materials were guarded by members of KEDO and other worker unions for about 2 months, she said and praised the workers for helping the vendors.
As COVID-19 crisis is not likely to end anytime, may these workers have a safe time at their homes, she prayed.
