Imphal, August 03 2021:
The All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has urged the State Government to make necessary arrangements to increase the intake capacity of students at Government institutions.
In a statement, the AMSU stated that the current intake capacity at Government schools and colleges is insufficient to accommodate all the students who passed Class X and XII examinations this year.
Saying that the pass percentage of BoSEM and CoHSEM examinations is 100 and 96.6 percent respectively, the AMSU cautioned that the limited seats at Government institutions might enforce a high dropout rate.
Continuing that AMSU, has time and again, sent a proposal to chalk out a policy to increase the intake capacity at Government institutions, the student union reasoned that the children of poor families have no other options than to opt for Government schools and colleges.
AMSU further claimed that the State Government has not taken any step to avoid issues during the admission process.
