MU to host Y20 Consultation

Manipur University will be hosting the Y20 Consultation which is a platform that brings young people together to connect, share ideas & experiences, and deliberate on finding innovative solutions to pressing global concerns.
Manipur University will organise a one day seminar on Thursday at the MU Auditorium Hall, said PIB Imphal.
Nongthombam Biren Singh, Chief Minister of Manipur; Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh, Union Minister of State for External Affairs & Education; and Govindas Konthoujam, Minister (PWD & YAS), Manipur will grace the inaugural function.
There will be 5 invited international speakers from G20 members.
In addition, 25 youth delegates from G20 members and 25 from within India will also be attending.
13 Indian panellists/speakers, 1 Padma Shri Awardee, and 1 Arjuna Awardee will be among the speakers.
The targeted audience is academicians, scholars, students and youths.
Four sub themes or topics which will be discussed in the seminar.
They are- "Youth in Legislature and Politics", "Youth in Policy Making and Governance Shared Future", "Youth in Democracy and Governance" and "Institutionalising Leadership and Governance Training Youth in Community Governance" .
The Y20 is the official youth engagement group for youth from G20 members.
Y20 promotes youth as future leaders to raise awareness of global issues, dialogue with each other and reach consensus.
The focus on youth, in terms of their engagement in the political arena, is a relatively new priority but extremely timely, particularly in light of recent events and democratic transitions in the country.
In order to respond to the needs of young people, and to guarantee that their basic human rights are recognized and enforced, young people's active and meaningful participation in their societies and in democratic practices and processes, is of crucial importance.
