Imphal, November 30 2011:
With crimes of all sorts including bomb blast and other arms related incidents occurring even in the heart of Imphal where AFSPA has been removed and where enough security personnel are deployed, there is no question of removing it from the whole of the state, expressed Chief Minister O Ibobi.
Speaking at the function organized to inaugurate the Indoor Stadium at Uripok Khumanthem Leikai today, Chief Minister O Ibobi said that at any point of time, whenever any individual or an organization comes up with a problem, an amicable solution is arrived at with discussions.
As such the government is on talks with the NSCN(IM), NSCN(K) and other insurgent groups to come to a solution.
Likewise other organizations should come out and have peace talks with the government.
The Chief Minister further said that "the treacherous act of the bomb blast which occurred at the entrance gate of the Manipur Sangai Festival by a person who was made to carry the bomb by paying Rs 20 is highly condemnable.
The blast occurred at a place where AFSPA was lifted.
How could the Act be further removed from the remaining parts of the state" .
Though Manipur is a land with a small population, yet the problems and issues of the state is quite huge and it tends to come up one after the other.
The people in the state should all come together irrespective of caste, creed and religion and work towards building a better and peaceful society, he added.
Highlighting the various developmental programmes taken up by the SPF government in the state, he said that all development programmes taken up in Imphal area will be completed before the coming State Assembly election.
The Sewerage Project which is being taken up for the first time in the whole North East is a very rare project of its kind.
The project is being taken up in Imphal city with the aim of preserving the Loktak Lake, fresh as it is, in its natural form.
The waste particles which normally get drained to the Loktak Lake through the Imphal and Nambul River will be accumulated in the Sewerage Project.
This will prevent the filling up of the Loktak Lake with all sorts of waste materials.
He also justified the delay in completing the Sewerage Project in Imphal which has led to every road being dug up, on account of the short working season in the state and also the frequent bandhs and blockade in the state.
The function was also attended by IFCD Minister N Biren, Power Minister Phungzathang Tonsing, MPCC President Gaikhangam, PDA Chairman Dr Kh Loken, MLA L Nandakumar and MLA Y Surchandra.
