Essential items made available at Moreh, Kangpokpi

With a bid to reduce the scarcity of essential items, edible oil, salts, potatoes and other products for daily use were made available to the people of Mortha village in Tengnoupal district, at wholesale rates in the presence of SDO Moreh, Irengbam Dinesh Kumar, ASP (Ops) Moreh, M Amit; SDPO Moreh, L Meghabarna and others.
The items were sold with strict maintenance of social distancing.
Shops at Moreh were also opened today from 6 am to 2 pm, after the State Cabinet had decided to relax the lockdown in certain sectors.
SP Tengnoupal, Th Vikramjit; ASP (Ops) Moreh, M Amit; ASP (Ops) Tengnoupal, Th Krisnatombi; SDPO L Meghabarna; SDO, Moreh Irengbam Dinesh Kumar and officials of IRB, MR strictly monitored the opening of the shops and enforced social distancing among the buyers who came out to buy essential commodities.
ASP (Ops) Moreh M Amit, while adressing the media maintained that with the instruction of the State Government, mostly grocery shops at Moreh were allowed to open and the Police personnels took up necessary measures such as maintainance of social distancing apart from instructing buyers to use face mask while coming out.
Meanwhile, SP Th Vikramjit has also met various CSOs to discuss the necessary measures to be taken up at Moreh in the wake of COVID-19 .
KANGPOKPI: After few weeks of complete lockdown, retail shops dealing with essential commodities in Kangpokpi district begin opening since today.
With the opening of the retail shops in Kangpokpi District Headquarters today, people rush to buy essential items since early morning by maintaining social distance and wearing mask.
It may be mentioned that the order issued by District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi, Lalithambigai K, stated that retail shops dealing with essential commodities like groceries, vegetables, fruits, poultry meat and fish will be opened from 6 am to 2 pm on all days except Sunday but movement of people on vehicles is restricted, except for pass holders.
It also directed the town committees and village authorities of the concerned localities to coordinate with SDOs and district police in checking market goers.
Retailers who wish to purchase from wholesale market at Imphal are allowed to go on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday with permit issued by the District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi.
Any defaulters of District Magistrate/DC Kangpokpi directive in connection with the opening of retail shops dealing with essential commodities will be punished under relevant sections of Disaster Management Act, 2005.Speaking to media persons, a customer coming to buy essential commodities said that the decision of the State Government to relax the lockdown on retail shops dealing with essential commodities is brilliant and allowing them to open on all days except Sunday is much appreciated as it will help in avoiding public crowding at the market and also avoid panic buying
of essential commodities.
